Council Approves Contract for Baseball Stadium Study
Published on June 04, 2026
At its June 3 meeting, the Medford City Council voted 5-1, with one abstention, to approve a contract of up to $500,000 for consulting services related to baseball stadium design and cost estimation.
KNO Construction, in partnership with DLR Group, will develop construction cost estimates for a multi-purpose, professional baseball-compliant stadium at Hawthorne Park. The work will also evaluate the existing Harry & David Field site at Lithia & Driveway Fields for comparison.
The scope of work includes site analysis, due diligence, building design, constructability review, and budget development. It will produce a 10% design for the Hawthorne Park location and a cost and viability assessment for the Harry & David Field site, expected by mid-October 2026.
Project findings and a staff recommendation will be presented to the Council for further direction following completion of the study.
The City’s Request for Proposals received six submissions from qualified architectural teams. KNO Construction submitted the lowest-cost proposal. Submissions were independently scored by City leaders and Eugene Emeralds owner D.G. Elmore, followed by interviews with the top two firms.
On April 15, the Medford Urban Renewal Agency (MURA) Board authorized up to $500,000 to support early analysis of the proposed stadium. Of that total, $250,000 will be transferred from MURA to the City of Medford, and $250,000 will be contributed by the Eugene Emeralds.
