MURA Approves Conditional Funding for Baseball Stadium Study

The Medford Urban Renewal Agency (MURA) Board, comprised of the Medford City Council, has approved up to $500,000 in funding to support early analysis of a proposed baseball stadium.

Approved April 15, 2026, through Resolution 2026-007, final funding is contingent on the selection of a qualified engineering and design firm through the City’s Request for Proposals (RFP) process.

Total funding for the feasibility study will include a $250,000 matching contribution from Elmore Sports Group bringing the total study budget would be $750,000.

Issuing the RFP does not commit the City or MURA to any cost. Funding would only be allocated if the Council selects a firm and chooses to move forward with the analysis.

If selected, the work would include a 10% engineering design, cost analysis, and due diligence to evaluate the project’s feasibility.

The analysis will evaluate two potential sites:

Hawthorne Park: Preferred site located within the urban renewal area, aligned with downtown revitalization goals
Harry & David Field: Alternative site in South Medford identified as a potentially more cost-efficient option

This effort builds on recent MURA action to add the project to the Center City Revitalization Plan and supports City Council goals to advance regional economic development opportunities. The results of the study will help inform next steps and determine whether the project is viable.
