Eight local organizations will receive a share of $615,563 after the Medford City Council approved acceptance of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) at its Sept. 17 meeting.

The grant will support vital transitional housing renovations, community improvements such as park upgrades, and services aimed at benefiting low- and moderate-income residents throughout Medford.

The organizations were selected through a competitive process conducted earlier this year, with proposals reviewed by the Community Services and Development Commission and the Housing Advisory Commission.

The grant funds cover the 2025 program year, which began July 1, 2025, and runs through June 30, 2026.

Funding recipients and projects include:

  • The Medford Parks, Recreation and Facilities department will use $239,212 to renovate the aquatic building at Jackson Park.
  • Youth 71Five Ministries will receive $150,000 to renovate transitional housing on Almond Street.
  • ACCESS will use $103,600 to rehabilitate eight rental units at Birch Corners.
  • Hearts With A Mission will receive $62,304 to renovate transitional housing on Edwards Street.
  • The Salvation Army will use $34,750 to support Hope House transitional living.
  • The Maslow Project will receive $30,000 to provide wrap-around family advocacy services.
  • The Center for Non-Profit Legal Services will use $16,000 to build housing stabilization and resiliency programs.
  • La Clinica will receive $11,584 to provide health outreach services.

Medford has participated in the CDBG program since 1989, receiving more than $20.6 million in federal funding. Since 2009, the City has awarded CDBG grants to more than 45 local organizations supporting affordable housing, community development, and essential services.
