The Medford Mayor and City Council are looking for people interested in serving on City Boards, Commissions and Committees. To qualify for most positions, candidates must maintain a physical residence, own real property or own a business within Medford’s Urban Growth Boundary.

CEMETERY COMMISSION (3-year term): Two partial-term positions (terms expire 01/31/2024 and 01/31/2026). Meets quarterly. The Commission makes recommendations to the Parks and Recreation Commission regarding the funding and operation of the Eastwood Cemetery. The Commission also works to secure donations and bequests for the Cemetery Trust Fund.

COMMISSION ON ACCESS, DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION (3-year term): One partial-term position (term expires 01/31/2024). Meets monthly. The Commission advises the City Council on access, diversity, equity and inclusion strategies that strengthen connections and improve success in diverse community groups and with City government.

MEDFORD 2040 VISION IMPLEMENTATION COMMITTEE (3-year term): Two partial-term positions (terms expire 04/30/2025 and 04/30/2026). The Committee monitors and supports implementation of the adopted Vision Action Plan, encourages lead partner action implementation, recommends modifications to the Plan and promotes public awareness and input related to its progress.

Positions must be filled by a resident citizen of Ward 2 and a young professional member (under 40).

PARKING COMMITTEE (3-year term): Two partial-term positions (terms expire 01/31/2026). Meets monthly. The Committee advises the Transportation Commission on matters related to parking in the Central Business District (CBD).

Two positions must be filled by a CBD property/business owner, employee or resident.

SITE PLAN AND ARCHITECTURAL COMMISSION (4-year term): One partial-term position (term expires 01/31/2027). Meets twice monthly. The Commission is the approving authority for Site Plan and Architectural Review, looking at architecture, landscaping, signage and any other improvements of new development projects and existing structures.

Position must be filled by a licensed landscaper.

TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION (3-year term): One partial-term position (term expires 01/31/2025). Meets monthly. The Commission works with the Active Transportation Advisory Committee, Parking Committee, Traffic Coordinating Committee and Transportation Advocacy Committee of the Medford/Jackson County Chamber of Commerce (TRADCO) to advise the City Council and Planning Commission on all matters affecting transportation policy in the City of Medford and surrounding area. Position is at large.

TREE COMMITTEE (3-year term): Three partial-term positions (terms expire 01/31/2024, 01/31/2025 and 01/31/2026). Meets monthly. The Committee advises the Parks and Recreation Commission on matters regarding trees in the rights-of-way and in parklands.

YOUTH CANDIDATES SOUGHT FOR MEDFORD BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS

To qualify for these positions, candidates must reside within City limits and be enrolled in a Medford high school, Medford public charter high school or home-schooled in Medford. All youth positions begin July 1 and expire June 30.

YOUTH MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC ART SELECTION COMMITTEE (1-year term): One partial-term position (term expires 06/30/2024). Meets when requested by the City Council or Parks and Recreation Commission. The Committee advises the City Council and Parks and Recreation Commission on matters pertaining to the selection and acquisition of public art, including prescribed implementation of the Public Art Selection and Acquisition Policy.
