Looking to get involved in your community? Serving on a City Board, Commission or Committee is a great way to make a difference in your City.

Step 1.Decide which board, commission or committee you want to apply for

Step 2.Apply using the online application

Some boards and commissions have more requirements than others.  We'll guide you through this process if you apply online.

Step 3.Make sure you're in good standing with the City

All members must meet a minimum of one of the following residence requirements, unless specifically addressed in the Medford Code or State Statutes:

  1. Physical residency within the City of Medford Urban Growth Boundary
  2. Owner of business with a physical location within the City of Medford Urban Growth Boundary
  3. Owner of real property located within the City of Medford Urban Growth Boundary 

Step 4.Wait for a decision

This process can take some time. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

  • We review your application as soon as we get it.  However, Council doesn't make appointments until we have vacancies on specific boards, commissions and committees.
  • Most vacancies are filled in November and December, but sometimes there are openings at other times. Click here to check the current list of vacancies.
  • If you applied for a board that doesn't have vacancies, don't worry.  Your application is good for at least a full year.

Step 5.Go to board and commission meetings

If you are interested in serving on a board or commission, it's a good idea to go to meetings.  You can get familiar with the board's duties and meet current members.

Step 2.Print and fill out the boards and commissions application

You can request a paper application by emailing citymanager@cityofmedford.org.

Be sure to indicate which board or commission you are interested in.

Step 3.Make sure you're in good standing with the City
