Medford City Council Adopts 2025-27 Biennial Budget
Published on June 05, 2025
The Medford City Council officially adopted the City’s 2025–27 budget at its June 4 meeting.
The $679.5 million budget includes $76.8 million in contingency funds and reflects a 27.6% increase from the current 2023–25 budget. The main reasons for the increase are federally required upgrades to the Regional Water Reclamation Facility, along with rising employee wages and benefit costs.
“Our focus will remain on serving our residents and ensuring the quality of the services we provide, whether it's through public safety, maintaining and improving our roads, supporting the planning process, or fostering community engagement,” City Manager Rob Field noted.
While many cities of similar size are facing layoffs and financial challenges, Medford continues to take a proactive, long-term approach. The City established the Budget Stabilization Committee in 2022 to continuously plan two years ahead.
The committee—comprised of City Council members, Budget Committee members, and citizens—explores ways to ensure the City meets its future financial obligations by identifying potential revenue sources and cost-saving opportunities.
