Parks, Recreation and Facilities Announce Volunteer Program Results
Published on January 03, 2024
Last year, over 60 Medford Parks, Recreation and Facilities volunteers spent nearly 350 hours removing 1,730 pounds of trash from City parks.
Volunteers also helped clean up the parks by covering or removing graffiti, repainting restrooms and clearing natural debris.
"Volunteers in service to the Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department provide invaluable assistance and support to parks and facility maintenance," said Medford Parks, Recreation and Facilities Director, Rich Rosenthal. "They save staff time and resources and allow paid staff to focus on our core missions."
“It takes a village to make a village and our community support has shown time and time again that volunteers are a crucial piece to that village," said Volunteer Coordinator, Tyson Thompson. "We would like to thank all the volunteers for their support last year, whether it was cleaning headstones at the I.O.O.F. Eastwood Cemetery, cleaning up trash in the parks, or helping our bee population by gardening at one of our pollinator beds. Their time was a true investment to the City of Medford, and we appreciate the continued growing support in beautifying our parks.”
