May is Wildfire Awareness Month, making it a good time to ensure you know your evacuation zone, understand evacuation levels, and are signed up for emergency alerts before wildfire season begins.

When wildfire strikes, every minute matters. Knowing your evacuation zone and receiving emergency alerts can help you act quickly and safely during an evacuation.

Medford (and all of Jackson County) is divided into evacuation zones, with each zone assigned a number on the map. During an emergency, an impacted zone number will be announced along with emergency information specific to that zone. Knowing your zone before an emergency can save valuable time when evacuation orders are issued.

When disaster strikes, you may have hours—or only minutes. Take these steps now to prepare yourself and your property.

Know Your Zone
Look up your address using the search button below to know your zone ahead of time so that you can quickly evacuate if orders for your zone are issued. Once you find your zone, save the number in your phone or post it somewhere easy to reference during an emergency.

Please note, neighborhood routes for each zone feature recommended ways out and do not depict all ways out of the designated area.

Know Your Levels
Level 1 — Be Ready

Be aware of the danger that exists in your area and monitor emergency services websites and local media outlets for information. This is the time for preparation and precautionary movement of persons with special needs, mobile property and (under certain circumstances) pets and livestock.

If conditions worsen, emergency services personnel may contact you via Jackson Alerts.

Level 2 — Be Set You Must Prepare to Leave at a Moment’s Notice.

This level indicates there is significant danger to your area, and residents should either voluntarily relocate to a shelter or with family/friends outside of the affected area, or if choosing to remain, be ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice.

Residents may have time to gather necessary items, but doing so is at their own risk. This may be the only notice that you receive. Emergency services cannot guarantee they will be able to notify you if conditions rapidly deteriorate.

Level 3 — Go! Leave Immediately!

Danger to your area is current or imminent, and you should evacuate immediately.

If you choose to ignore this advisement, you must understand emergency services may not be available to assist you further. Do not delay leaving to gather any belongings or make efforts to protect your home.

This will be the last notice that you receive. Entry to evacuated areas may be denied until conditions are safe.
