The City of Medford hired Kittelson and Associates, Inc. to develop a plan for improving walking, biking, and rolling access along the OR99 corridor (Riverside Avenue, Central Avenue, Court Street) and along E Main Street in downtown Medford while continuing to provide access and flow for people driving.

Concept design alternatives were developed with the goal of achieving the community’s desired vision for low-stress, comfortable, walking, biking, and rolling facilities accessing downtown.

Kittleson and Associates delivered a preferred concept design memorandum and concept plans for the Multimodal Study. The following documents are the results:

Several previously adopted plans and studies have expressed the community’s strong desire for low stress, comfortable, walking, biking, and rolling facilities accessing transit and the downtown core. The objective of this Study is to further develop this desire into a comprehensive design that can be implemented incrementally over time following upcoming roadway maintenance or as independent future projects.

The Study will analyze possible roadway cross-section alternatives, identify priority pedestrian crossing locations, assess route connectivity, evaluate motor vehicle and transit operations, and recommend safety enhancements along the corridors.

Implementation of the selected design is anticipated to happen incrementally over time following the repaving of a corridor or as independent future projects. The implementation schedule for sections not planned for repaving will be developed once the design and scope of changes is more fully understood.
