About

The Medford Police Department Cadet Program is a volunteer program designed to educate youth and young adults between the ages of 14 - 20 who are interested in a future career as a Medford Police Officer. It provides an opportunity for individuals to further their understanding of the criminal justice system through training, and to provide an insight into all phases of police work as a possible future profession and career. It will also help foster a better understanding between the police department and the youth of our City.

  • Domestic Violence

  • Patrol Functions
  • Report Writing
  • Firearms
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations
  • Building Searches
  • Courtroom Testimony

  • The Law Enforcement Challenges (LEC)

Program Requirements

Cadets meet on the first and third Monday of every month. Meetings are held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. If you're interested in becoming a cadet, please contact us for an application. 

Selection Criteria:

  • Be a graduate of the 8th grade and be between the ages of 14-20
  • Maintain a 2.5 Grade Point Average or higher
  • Regularly attend meetings 
  • Must have no arrests or convictions which would prohibit employment as a Medford Police Officer
  • Must abide by the character, moral and ethical policies of the Medford Police Department
  • Must participate in community service events
