Salvation Army officials, community leaders, and supporters broke ground on the Hope House expansion on Tuesday, July 15.
Hope House is a drug and alcohol-free transitional living facility that accommodates singles and families. The program aims to "move people from the streets to stability to employment and finally to a home," according to the organization.
The expansion will add a new two-story, seven-unit multifamily building to the existing facility located at 1065 Crews Road.
“At The Salvation Army, we are committed to Doing the Most Good—and this expansion is a powerful step forward in that mission,” the organization shared on its Facebook page.
In 2023, the City Council awarded $300,000 from the Housing Opportunity Fund to support the project.
The expansion advances Medford’s goals of increasing supportive and attainable housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
