Park Walk and Talks: Get a Firsthand Look at Upcoming Developments
Published on September 17, 2025
Medford Parks and Recreation is offering residents a unique opportunity to get a firsthand look at future plans and upgrades for three City parks.
Over the coming weeks, Director Rich Rosenthal will lead Park Walk and Talks, a series of guided walks where attendees can learn about developments at Howard Memorial Sports Park, Prescott Park, and Jackson Park.
Howard Memorial Sports Park
The first walk will highlight Howard Memorial Sports Park, a 50-acre site adjacent to the Rogue Credit Union Community Complex (Rogue X). Major development is underway to transform the area into a robust recreational hub. Planned features include a neighborhood park, a dedicated pickleball facility, three sand volleyball courts, three youth ballfields, a Vietnam War Memorial, and 260 additional parking spaces to support increased usage.
WHEN: Sunday, September 28, 3 to 4 p.m.
WHERE: Meet in the Rogue X lobby (901 Rossanley Drive)
Prescott Park
The second walk will focus on Prescott Park, which recently expanded by 80 acres through a purchase and a generous land donation from the Messer family. This addition will allow new trails to be created on the park’s west side, including one named in honor of the family.
WHEN: Sunday, October 12, 3-4 p.m.
WHERE: Meet at the paved TRACK Trail parking lot along Roxy Ann Road (3030 Roxy Ann Road)
Jackson Park
The final walk will take place at Jackson Park, which has served the community since its construction in the 1960s. Planned upgrades include a large splash pad, renovations to the existing pool building, refurbishment of the restroom facilities, new picnic areas, a large dog park, sandy volleyball courts, a bike skills area, and continued improvements to Fagone Field.
WHEN: Sunday, October 26, 3-4 p.m.
WHERE: Meet at the Jackson Pool building (815 Summit Avenue)
The walks are free and open to anyone aged 18 and older, but pre-registration is requested. Sign up here.
