Medford Seeks Public Input on Transportation Safety at Open House
Published on September 16, 2025
The City of Medford invites residents to an upcoming open house to help shape its Transportation Safety Action Plan (TSAP), a community effort aimed at reducing and ultimately eliminating serious injuries and fatalities on city streets.
Event Details
- Date: Thursday, Oct. 2
- Time: 5:30–7:30 p.m.
- Location: Rogue X, 901 Rossanley Drive
At the open house, attendees can review proposed strategies, share feedback, and talk directly with City staff and neighbors about transportation safety concerns. Staff will also provide updates on the planning process and next steps.
For those unable to attend in person, an online survey will be available from Sept. 29 through Oct. 12 at MedfordOregon.gov/TSAP.
About the Plan
The TSAP is based on a Safe System Approach, which looks at safer roadway design, responsible driving, vehicle safety, appropriate speeds, and post-crash care. The plan emphasizes that no single measure solves safety issues.
Potential strategies could include lowering speed limits in targeted areas, which can reduce both the number and severity of crashes—particularly for pedestrians and cyclists.
Policy Decisions
The TSAP will influence future policy decisions by providing recommended changes to the Transportation System Plan (TSP), municipal code, and design standard changes that put safety as a primary consideration.
There will be additional opportunities to provide input prior to adoption of the TSAP.
Funding
The TSAP is supported by a $400,000 grant from the Federal Highway Administration’s Safe Streets for All program, with an additional $100,000 from gas tax revenue. Additionally, the TSAP will make the City eligible for additional federal funding for projects identified in the plan.
Get Involved
The City is asking your input on how we select and implement strategies that balance the unique safety needs of our community.
The open house is an opportunity to learn more about the TSAP project and provide input on strategies that will provide the best safety solutions for the community.
