The Medford Police Department is once again offering its annual Latino Citizen's Academy - a five-week, family friendly program designed to inform and build stronger connections with Medford's Latino community.
With the help of Cultural Outreach Coordinator, Lilia Caballero, these classes will be taught by MPD’s Spanish speaking officers and employees. Each year, this academy covers a variety of topics including information on domestic violence, livability issues, our School Resource Officer program, firearms safety, getting to know our Medford City Council, a K-9 demonstration, and more!
The dates for the 2026 Latino Citizen Academy are July 28, August 4, August 11, August 18, and August 25 (Tuesday evenings) from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.
MPD began hosting the Latino Citizen’s Academy back in 2016. After the pandemic, these in-person events were cancelled, but returned in September of 2023. It was a part of the MPD’s strategic plan to again host a Latino Citizen’s Academy.
