Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, November Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are delayed. Funds will be distributed once federal funding resumes, but it may take time for benefits to load onto EBT cards.

This disruption affects nearly 47,000 individuals in more than 28,000 Jackson County households who rely on SNAP to help meet their nutritional needs. Current federal guidance indicates that only partial funding may be released in the near term, though it remains unclear whether this affects benefit amounts, the number of recipients, or specific states.

In response, Jackson County has declared a local emergency and partially activated its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to monitor impacts, assess needs, and coordinate resource distribution. The City of Medford is actively engaged in these efforts, working alongside county officials, the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), and regional food partners to help ensure support reaches those most in need.
