City Councilors recently approved the allocation of $1.4 million in Housing Opportunity Funds (HOF) for various projects around Medford. The funding includes $250,000 from American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), $594,000 from the Council Community Initiative Fund, and $556,000 from Construction Excise Tax (CET) revenue.

The following is a list of organizations, the HOF award they'll be receiving and the project they'll be utilizing the funds for:

  • North Development Group (NDG) - $475,000 for 36 affordable housing units at 2100 East Barnett Rd.
  • Habitat for Humanity/Rogue Valley - $378,000 to construct 13 homes in the Habi-View Subdivision at 1900 Grandview Ave.
  • Proud Ground - $297,149 to cover the estimated costs of system development charges and miscellaneous city fees for the second phase of New Spirit Village, a permanently affordable community land trust neighborhood.
  • Golden Rule ReEntry - $249,851 to purchase a house at 23 N. Orange St. which will be renovated and repurposed for transitional supportive housing for formerly incarcerated people returning to Jackson County.

The approval of these funds meets City Council's goal of increasing housing opportunities throughout Medford with an emphasis on providing housing options for households earning 80-120 percent of area median income.
