City Councilors have approved a $100,000 contract with local artist Melissa Ghiglieri and youth art collective Life Art to design, fabricate and install a metal “X” sculpture outside of the Rogue Credit Union Community Complex (Rogue X).
The 15-foot-high lighted “X” will depict activities that frequently take place at the facility, including swimming, basketball, volleyball, futsal and pickleball. The side facing the building will highlight common activities, flora and fauna in and around Medford.
Background: In 2023, City Council authorized up to $100,000 for unique public art to be installed outside the front entrance of the Rogue X, including $80,000 in Council Community Initiative Funds (CCIF) monies coupled with public art funds approved through the biennial budget process.
