Federal guidelines classify an asphalt overlay as an “alteration”, which requires the installation or replacement of ADA ramps at the time the overlay work is performed. Completing this work under a separate contract before a pavement overlay is completed provides for a better finished project and ensures the asphalt overlays will be completed on schedule.
This work is being conducted to comply with federal law, to follow Federal Highway Administration requirements, and in accordance with the City’s ADA Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan.
ADA ramp installations are ongoing. Please note: Work schedules are dependent on weather conditions and other factors. Always slow down within construction zones. Drivers should use designated detour routes.
