Pickleball Complex Nears Completion at Howard Memorial Sports Park
Published on May 15, 2026
The dedicated pickleball facility known as The Courts by Lithia & Driveway is nearing completion at Howard Memorial Sports Park, adjacent to the Rogue X.
The $2 million facility will become the largest municipal pickleball complex in Oregon, featuring 19 lighted courts designed for both recreational and competitive play.
Construction on the facility began in October 2025 and will help meet the growing local demand for pickleball while positioning Medford to host regional and national tournaments with significant economic impact. The courts will be open to the public for free use, except during tournaments or league play that may require a fee.
An opening celebration is scheduled for June 5 at 12:30 p.m. in conjunction with the Southern Oregon Pickleball Association's (SOPA) annual spring tournament.
Funding for the project was made possible through a public-private partnership. Contributions included more than $900,000 from SOPA fundraising efforts, including naming rights support from Lithia Motors, Inc., along with capital funding from Howard Memorial Sports Park, Inc., and the City of Medford.
Additional amenities at the park include four sand volleyball courts expected to be completed in June, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., which will be dedicated on Memorial Day at 1:30 p.m., and a neighborhood playground and picnic area currently in advanced design and engineering.
