Medford Seeks Community Input on Urban Renewal
Published on September 23, 2026
The Medford Planning Department is inviting the community to learn more about the Medford Urban Renewal Agency (MURA) and provide input on its future.
Date: Monday, Sept. 28
Time: 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Location: Medford Police Department, Prescott Room (219 S. Ivy Street)
MURA works to eliminate blight and depreciating property values within the designated urban renewal area while enhancing opportunities for redevelopment and improvement, as outlined in the City Center Revitalization Plan.
As the current urban renewal district, known as MURA 1.0, winds down, the City is exploring the establishment of MURA 2.0. Over the years, MURA has supported several projects in Medford, including the South Gateway Development, The Commons and Pear Blossom Park, and the redevelopment of a downtown parking lot into the 62-unit Genesis Apartments.
Participants will have an opportunity discuss MURA 1.0 accomplishments and provide input on the draft boundary and proposed projects for MURA 2.0. The meeting will also cover how urban renewal works, where it can be used and what an urban renewal agency is authorized to do.
