A new plaque honoring Medford’s mayors now sits in front of the “Salmon Flight” fountain at the corner of West 8th Street and South Oakdale Avenue in downtown Medford.

The “Mayor’s Plaza” tribute features 42 tiles, each representing a different mayor from 1885 to 2024. It reads: “Dedicated to the mayors of Medford for their service and contributions to our community.”

The original plaque, estimated to have been installed in the 1980s, had become weather-worn over time and needed to be replaced.

The $5,788 cost was covered by the Council Community Initiative Fund—which is comprised of marijuana tax revenue the City receives for local and state marijuana taxes.

The sign, created by Big sign fx of Medford, was installed by the Parks, Recreation and Facilities’ maintenance team.
