On October 14, the Medford Police Department (MPD) joined other law enforcement agencies across Southern Oregon in a national family violence warrant sweep, resulting in 22 arrests and 28 warrants cleared.

The operation was part of the department's ongoing efforts to hold offenders accountable and support victims of domestic violence. A total of 27 law enforcement personnel from MPD Patrol, Criminal Investigations Division (CID) and Parole and Probation participated, alongside advocates from Community Works.

The operation resulted in:

  • 22 individuals lodged in jail
  • 28 outstanding warrants cleared
  • 16 open cases or cases with probable cause cleared
  • 4 victims connected with support services
  • 4 victim advocates participating in the operation

The operation coincides with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, observed each October to raise awareness about domestic violence, support survivors and highlight available resources.

While enforcement is an important part of addressing domestic violence, connecting victims with support is equally important. Through partnerships with organizations like Community Works, individuals experiencing abuse can access confidential advocacy, safety planning and other services.

Domestic violence can affect anyone, regardless of age, background or circumstance. If you or someone you know is experiencing abuse, help is available.
