As the Fourth of July holiday approaches, the City of Medford is reminding residents to celebrate responsibly and follow local fireworks regulations.

Fire danger in the Medford area is currently High. While consumer fireworks are legal during the designated use period, current conditions make it especially important to follow safety precautions and dispose of fireworks properly. Improperly discarded fireworks and fireworks that land in dry grass or vegetation can quickly ignite a fire.

Key Dates:

Consumer fireworks may be sold from June 23 through July 6
Oregon-legal consumer fireworks may only be used from July 1 through July 6

Where Fireworks are Prohibited

Personal use of Oregon-legal consumer fireworks is prohibited at all times in the following areas:

Bear Creek Greenway
City parks
Public school grounds
Hillsides east of Foothill Road and North Phoenix Road (Wildland Hazard Areas)

Violations may result in a $250 fine. Residents can view the map of restricted areas for additional details.

Illegal Fireworks

Fireworks that fly into the air or explode are illegal in Oregon. This includes items such as mortars, bottle rockets, Roman candles, firecrackers, and M-80s.
