The Medford Police Department Cadet Program offers an exciting opportunity for youth to explore a future in law enforcement while gaining real-world experience and training.

Designed for individuals ages 14–20, the program provides insight into all phases of police work. As a volunteer program, Cadets meet twice a month for meetings, training sessions, and activities that build leadership, discipline, and teamwork skills.

Cadets receive hands-on training in areas such as:
  • Police Ethics and Community Relations
  • Criminal, Traffic, and Use of Force Law
  • Criminal Investigations
  • Evidence Collection
  • Domestic Violence
  • Radio Communications
  • Officer Safety
  • Vehicle Stops
  • Patrol Functions
  • Report Writing
  • Firearms
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations
  • Building Searches
  • Courtroom Testimony
In addition to training, Cadets participate in community events, police ride-alongs, the Law Enforcement Challenge (LEC), and the Cadet Academy (held the first week of August in Washington State).  At the Academy, Cadets receive advanced instruction and certification alongside peers from other departments.
