Medford Parks, Recreation and Facilities will host a Fourth of July celebration this year with support from a $20,000 allocation from the Council Community Initiative Fund (CCIF).

The City Council approved the funding at its April 1 meeting after previously expressing interest in hosting a local event following the discontinuation of other regional celebrations.

The event, Red, White & Pool, is scheduled for July 4 at Rogue X and will feature an open house with free activities, including open swim, food while supplies last, and access to the facility’s gym spaces for basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. Contests and giveaways are also planned.

Live music will be provided by Mo Phillips as part of the department's new Gigglemugs Fam Jams concert series.

The 2026 event will be smaller due to the short planning period. However, the City is planning a larger, more extensive Fourth of July celebration in 2027, which will include a drone show.

Since 2020, the City Council has awarded more than $5.7 million in CCIF grants, funded through local and state marijuana tax revenue, to support programs and organizations across Medford.
