Medford City Council has allocated $570,000 to fund a variety of local projects and programs aimed at supporting community well-being, improving public spaces, and enriching educational and cultural opportunities. The Council Community Initiative Funds, sourced from local and state marijuana tax revenue, will help the following programs:
Rogue Rapids Swim Scholarships ($10,000) This funding will provide swim scholarships to local youth, promoting water safety and making recreational opportunities more accessible for families.
Downtown Medford Association ($125,000) This investment will contribute to the revitalization of downtown Medford, creating a more vibrant and engaging space for residents and visitors alike.
Park Strip Restoration ($100,000) These funds will be used to restore privately owned park/planter strips, enhancing the city’s greenery and making our outdoor spaces more beautiful and sustainable.
Children’s Museum Scholarships ($100,000) This allocation will allow children from all backgrounds to access educational exhibits and programs, fostering creativity and learning in the next generation.
Southern Oregon Alliance of Physician Partners ($100,000) Funding will support physician-led healthcare initiatives aimed at improving health services and outcomes for the Medford community.
Alba Park Fountain Restoration ($50,000) The restoration of the historic Alba Park fountain will preserve a beloved community landmark and enhance the beauty of one of Medford’s most cherished parks.
Southern Oregon Historical Society ($50,000) This funding will aid in preserving Southern Oregon’s rich history, ensuring that our cultural heritage is shared and celebrated by the community.
Consumer Credit Counseling Services ($35,000) These funds will support financial literacy programs, helping residents better manage their finances and achieve long-term stability.
