Project Overview
Engagement Opportunities
The community's voice is an important part of the process as we create a shared vision for the future of Medford’s park and recreation system. Below are recaps of the engagement opportunities as of August 2024.
First Survey: A few months ago, our first survey was launched in April 2024 and asked community members to provide input on existing parks and programs. Participants shared their thoughts on how they would make parks, facilities, trails, and recreation programs better for all of Medford.
The initial survey identified key issues and needs within the parks and recreation system. Based off this feedback, a second survey will be conducted to ask community member's about the prioritization of potential park and facility projects.
Open House Event at Rogue X: A Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan Open House was held on Sunday, April 21 at the Rogue X. This event provided an in-person opportunity to engage with staff and stakeholders
Event Highlights:
- Gained Insight: Attendees learned about the development of the Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan, its objectives, and the planning process.
- Shared Your Voice: Input from the community was invaluable in shaping the future of our parks and recreation services. Participants engaged in a self-paced format where they asked questions, shared ideas, and provided feedback.
What is the Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan?
The City of Medford Parks, Recreation and Facilities Department is developing a strategic plan to shape the next 10 years of citywide park and recreation services.
The plan will address:
- Identifying systemwide needs for the next 10 years and beyond
- Identify and prioritize specific improvements to park and recreation facilities and activities
- Outline goals and polices to provide guidance on future investments, projects and programs based on community priorities and needs
Why do we need the new plan?
Now that the Rogue Credit Union Community Complex (Rogue X) is open, it's an ideal time for the City of Medford and its citizens to decide the next set of recreation program and facility needs and priorities for the next 7-10 years. By participating in the Strategic Plan update process, you help current and future City Councils answer the following questions:
-
What type of parks and recreation facilities should be built, and which should be prioritized?
-
What enhanced or new recreation programs should be offered?
-
What revenue mechanisms should be considered to pay for the above?
