Express Permit Reviews are available for both Residential and Commercial projects. Development Services currently offer a real-time permit application review program for specific residential and commercial tenant infill / tenant improvement projects that meet pre-specified qualifications (see below). With your commitment of time and active participation in the review process, our goal is to be able to issue the permit on the same day or, in some cases, within a few days!
Depending on the project's scope of work, the process may take an hour or it may take several hours from start to finish. If the plans are stamped by a design professional, they must be available throughout the review process. Otherwise, the person authorized by the owner to make modifications to the plans / design must be available. By phone is fine. Eligibility for Express Permit Review: To see if your project is eligible, please review the qualifications below:
Express Permit Review Hours: if your project qualifies for Express Permit submission, Express reviews are processed each Wednesday. Please email your completed permit application any day of the week. Please note on the application that you would like your project to be processed as an Express permit. The review process is all electronic (no paper plans). Completed applications must be received by 3:00 p.m. each Wednesday to qualify for same day Express review. Applications received after 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday will be processed and placed in a queue to be reviewed in the upcoming Wednesday Express review cycle. Please be aware that some projects may require pre-authorization from the departments prior to input.
