Piano Keys and Book Shelf Crosswalks

Two new decorative crosswalks have been installed along Central Avenue in Downtown Medford.

Decorative crosswalks are a creative way to showcase streets as a place for people to enjoy. They can be used to highlight a community’s unique character, indicate a neighborhood gateway, or simply brighten an intersection with colors, textures, or patterns.

Piano keys were chosen for the Central Avenue and 8th Street intersection as it’s adjacent to the Craterian Ginger Rogers Theater. A bookshelf was chosen for the Central Avenue and 9th Street intersection to represent the Library.

“Adding these crosswalks is an effort to create a more inviting downtown,” said John Vial, City of Medford Public Works Director. “We are considering these to be a pilot application as we want to see how they hold up over time.”

The City of Medford contracted with Geveko Markings on this project.
