Cooling Shelter to Open in Medford August 17 Through August 18

Due to high temperatures forecasted, Medford City Manager Brian Sjothun has issued a severe weather event declaration effective for Wednesday and Thursday, August 17-18. The City of Medford is partnering with ACCESS and the Jackson County Library to open and operate a cooling shelter. The cooling shelter will be open on both days from 12 – 8 p.m.

Please note, the shelter location changes on Thursday:

  • Wednesday, August 17: Medford Library – 205 S Central Ave.
  • Thursday, August 18: Merrick (Inn at the Commons) – 200 N Riverside Ave.

The cooling shelter will provide water, restrooms, snacks, and cooling area and water for pets. Individuals may come and go. The City has set up text notifications for citizens who would like to be notified when warming or cooling shelters are opened.
