Court Order and Rules

When appearing at the Medford Municipal Court, you will be expected to treat all personnel in a courteous manner.  Address the judge as “Your Honor,” and follow any instructions of the judge or court clerk.  Disruptive or disrespectful behavior may be deemed contempt of court, and you could be subject to immediate arrest and incarceration and or fine for such behavior.  

Cell phones must be silenced, and electronic devices are strictly prohibited from recording in their audio or visual capacity without prior written request and consent by the Municipal Court Judge.  For media coverage requests please click here.(PDF, 506KB)

Weapons

Weapons are not only prohibited in the courtroom, but they are also not allowed in city buildings pursuant to ORS 166.370.  Prohibited items include firearms even if you have a concealed handgun license, knives, pepper spray, or any item that poses a security risk or health hazard.

Clothing and Food/Drink

Proper attire is expected at court. Shirts and shoes must be worn, and hats must be removed.  No food or drink is allowed in the courtroom. Smoking, chewing of gum or tobacco products are not allowed.

 

Violations Bureau
