City Manager's Office

The City Manager's Office provides strategic leadership and professional management to the City government organization and works with the City Council to develop and implement its policies to maintain and enhance the quality of life for Medford residents.

Photo of Brian SjothunCity Manager Brian Sjothun was appointed in 2016 as City Manager by the Medford City Council. His career with Medford spans more than 16 years, beginning in Medford Parks and  Recreation. 

Prior to coming to Medford in 2004, Brian spent 16 years with the Woodburn Recreation & Parks Department.

Brian believes the City Manager's role is to provide guidance to city staff on items that the City Council would like to see brought forward for policy decisions.

Deputy City Manager Kelly Madding assists the City Manager in administering the affairs of city government. She works to help coordinate City Council agenda priorities and works with the City's department leaders to support the vision set by the Mayor and City Council.

Kelly has previously served as the Development Services Director for Jackson County and was the City Manager for Ashland, Talent and Rogue River.

The Medford 2040 Community Vision is a community-driven process facilitated by the City of Medford. The process will result in a clear understanding of how community members want the city to change over the next 20 years and a detailed plan on how to achieve it.

City Council meetings are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. inside Council Chambers at City Hall.

The City of Medford has several Boards and Commissions that serve as an advisory role to the City Council. Most Boards and Commissions require that you live within the Medford City limits or in Medford's Urban Growth Area, and they generally meet once per month.
