Building Safety

Welcome to the Building Safety Department! Our department staff addresses your safety in the built environment by providing residential and commercial plan review and inspections associated with building permits.

We work with contractors (Oregon Construction Contractors Board: Guide to Hiring a Contractor) and home owners to ensure that their project meets or exceeds required building, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing code requirements.

Building Safety is responsible for reviewing building plans and issuing permits to ensure the project is safe and meets all building codes.

Building Safety is now offering Remote Virtual Inspections (RVI) for some residential inspection types only. You can find out more about this program here. You may also call Building Safety if you have questions or want to determine if your project qualifies for this program.

Inspections can be done the same day if called in before 7:00 a.m.
